Chris Drewes is Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club’s General Manager. Drewes, a New York native, has had extensive experience in restaurant, bar and country club management. In July 2008 he moved down to South Florida with his wife Tara and his then five-month-old son Christopher, in order to begin his position at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club. Drewes has been working in the service industry most of his life. Prior to graduating from Westchester Community College in 1992, he had already held positions at Bentley’s in Key Largo and Islamorada. After graduating, he became Partner and Bar Manager of Bentley’s Restaurant in Ft. Pierce, and later became the Assistant Manager at Pizza & Brew Restaurant. He stayed for five years before returning to New York and taking a position as the Dining Room Manager at Fenway Golf Club. While this new position gave him many technical responsibilities, he also had many personal responsibilities, such as coordinating the details for numerous special events. Drewes’ position at Fenway Golf Club lead to an opportunity at the Stanwich Club, located in Greenwich, Connecticut. Here, as Clubhouse Manager, he was able to put his past experience into play, which culminated in assisting in the coordination of a $7 million clubhouse renovation. In July Drewes began his position as General Manager of DBYCC. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, going out to dinner, going to the beach, and spending time with his wife and son. Under his management and with his experience, Drewes’ hopes to raise the bar at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club. “I feel Deering Bay is in a unique position. While it is a great place for retirees and older adults, it is also a wonderful place for families to reside. There are so many activities, amenities and luxuries available at Deering, I feel we really do have the opportunity to become the premier club in South Florida.”
